Markee Ledge was born and grew up in Glasgow, writing songs and learning to play guitar. A move to Bristol and the purchase of a sampler would prove a timely move. Combining Samplers, Breakbeats, & Guitars and Spending time learning how to produce, Markee set up his Ruffneck Ting Label and Record Shop Breakbeat Culture. He linked up closely with Decoder, another giant of the 90's Drum and Bass scene. Their releases as Decoder and Substance, on Breakbeat Culture, 31 Records, Formation and also Decoder's albums on Hardleaders, Moving Shadow, feature some seminal tracks in Drum and Bass. Their Music was being played regularly by Grooverider, Fabio, Kemistry and Storm, Doc Scott and many more.

Then Markee formed the band Kosheen with Decoder and enlisted the singer Sian. Markee's track Hide U provided a blueprint for Kosheen and more Drum and Bass classics followed... Suicide, Dangerous Waters, and many more. Kosheen became one of the biggest commercial acts to emerge from the UK DnB scene, scoring 2 top ten Albums, and 4 Top ten singles in the UK chart and many hits all around the world. By 2002 Kosheen were performing on V Festival main stage to 25,000 people, also Glastonbury and the biggest festivals in Europe. They won two Dance Star awards for Best Single and Best Electronic Live Act and were nominated for Best Dance Act, for 2 years at the Brit Awards. In 2015 Markee announced his first solo album Elevate. This album features 3 guest vocalists and was a return to form for Markee, as his production and songwriting skills had developed. The Album was enthusiastically received by the Press and was Listed as Album of the Month in US Dance Magazine. Markee started taking a renewed interest in Drum and Bass and how it was developing and realising he still loved Vocal Drum and Bass, also there were now more artists doing musical stuff he liked, Wilkinson, Hybrid Minds, and many others. So a Vocal Drum and Bass album seemed timely. Markee whilst writing this album has built a custom made live set up, using Modular Drums and Synths combined with DJ mixer to create a new Live performance Drum and Bass, incorporating visuals and vocalists, to create a main stage live show, for these tracks.

More recently he’s also immersed himself in the 140 BPM scene with a love of deep UK dubstep and has had heavyweight releases on the likes of Tempa, Artikal Music UK, Uprise Audio, Duploc and his own Zonal label. Although he’s always been a versatile producer in deep electronic music, vocal tracks have always been his forte. Recently, he’s been working with new vocalists on a collection of uplifting drum & bass vocal tunes. Markee has sourced the singers from countries like Nigeria, USA, The Netherlands and the UK, there are also familiar faces such as MC Jakes and MC Megatron.
